The Award of Excellence in the Film and Video - Motivational category went to the 367th TRSS Combat Controller video. The squadron's Tactical Air Control Party video also won the Award of Excellence in the Film/Video - Recruitment category. According to the website, www.communicatorawards.com, the Communicator Awards is the leading international awards program honoring creative excellence for communications professionals. The awards are judged by the International Academy of Visual Arts consisting of top-tier professionals from media, communications, advertising and marketing firms. Tom Cowan, chief of production in the 367th TRSS Media Management Office, said both videos were recruiting aids geared toward young recruits. The featured high-energy music and quick cuts with effective sound bites to keep the viewer interested and appeal to those people looking for a challenge. "Combat Controller is a series of short programs on a single DVD highlighting required training for combat controllers," he said. "Recruiters wanted a module tool that appealed to young recruits while also giving the potential recruits a fair idea of the rigors of the physical training." Winning industry-level awards speaks volumes about the quality of their video production capabilities. Mr. Cowan said. "The Air Force is competing to get the attention of the same demographics that universities, colleges and businesses are trying to recruit and all of our productions need to represent the professionalism expected from the greatest Air Force in the world," he said. The squadron continues with its mission to improve the Air Force's combat capability by producing interactive multimedia instruction for aircraft and munitions maintenance training for Air Combat Command and Air Mobility Command. The squadron also produces informational, recruiting, motivational and training videos for the Air Force and other Department of Defense agencies.
