The 82nd Training Group welcomed Col. Shawn Harrison as its new commander of June 25 during a change of command ceremony in Hangar 1045.

As the newest commander of the second largest training group in the Air Force with 36 career fields and more than 130 courses and more than 21,000 graduates under his command, Colonel Harrison said he knows he has large shoes to fill in the wake of Col. Steve Morani, the group's former commander.

"I am looking forward to a successful assignment at Sheppard, achieving future goals and sustaining current accomplishments as we continue to hone our technical training and leadership capabilities," Colonel Harrison said.

Brig. Gen. O.G. Mannon, 82nd Training Wing commander, said he has the utmost confidence in Colonel Harrison's abilities and he is more than qualified to lead and improve.

"Colonel Sean Harrison is absolutely the man to take leadership of the 82nd Training Group and take it to the next level," Gen. Mannon said.

He ended his speech by telling his troops he is proud to be their commander and looks forward very much to getting out and meeting them. He also said he wants to help shape and create conditions for success as the 82nd TRG supports the mission of the 82nd TRW, 2nd Air Force, Air Education and Training Command and the United States Air Force.

The colonel was previously Chief of the Joint Training Integration Branch, J-7 Directorate at the Pentagon and has also been Deputy Operations Group Commander for Maintenance, Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., and Commander of the 757th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Indian Springs Air Force Auxiliary Field (now Creech AFB), Nev.

He has also been awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with four oak leaf clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal and was U.S. Air Force Air Warfare Center Lt. Gen. Leo Marquez Field Grade Manager in 2002, distinguished graduate, Aircraft Maintenance/Munitions Officer Course and a distinguished graduate, Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps.
