The Department of Defense selected Christopher Lamiroult for the 2009 Outstanding DoD Employee with a Disability Award, May 18.

There are several reasons that Mr. Lamiroult was elected for the award according to the award package submitted. His accomplishments included extensive dedication, ability to go above and beyond, and his contributions.

Although the award is for a DoD employee with a disability neither Mr. Lamiroult nor his supervisor Mark McBurnett, 82nd Civil Engineering Squadron, consider Mr. Lamiroult to be disabled, but entirely capable and dedicated to his job.

Mr. Lamiroult distinguished himself as a facility maintenance programmer while assigned to the 82nd CES, and has been detailed to the transitional project management office.

"Chris received the nomination because of his personal commitment to his job and coworkers. Although he received his disability while serving his country, he refuses to consider himself limited in any way. His dedication to serve is a motivation to others," said Mr. McBurnett Sheppard's Deputy Base Civil Engineer.

"I don't consider myself disabled, but it is an honor to be recognized by the personnel that put me in for this award and for others to agree," Mr. Lamiroult said.

Mr. Lamiroult completed 20,000 work requests and dispatched 153 personnel daily, producing a 53 percent completion of 20,000 work requests within two days. He also exceeded the command standard of emergency on-time rate. He tracked 25,000 hours in the recurring work program, reaching a 98.5 percent completion rate, once again exceeding Air Force standards by .5 percent.

Mr. Lamiroult also developed an in-house database that controls the operations flight's forms. This database gives senior leadership access to critical communication information, routinely used to make key decisions in a dynamic environment. This valuable asset allows CE and group leadership instant access to information.

Although Mr. Lamiroult takes his job seriously, he also takes time out for self improvement. He completed 12 activity management modules, one logistics module in Advanced Distributed Learning System which exceeded 80 hours of computer based training. Beyond that, he voluntarily accomplished eight hours of government purchase card training to provide 82nd CES a streamlined funding source for natural disasters.

"Chris has the ability to assimilate large amounts of information and use it in a relevant manner. He seems to always have the information needed to make a solid decision," Mr. McBurnett said.

Mr. Lamiroult has had great devotion to his job with the Air Force and has made many contributions due to his hard work. He also is a key player in planning Air shows and the Freedom Fest.

"I have found working with the Air Force to be a worthwhile challenge with rewards for a job well done," Mr. Lamiroult said.
