The state-of-the-art Defense Personal Property Program began live operations at Sheppard Nov. 19. Sheppard's Personal Property Processing Office, one of 18 sites designated for initial roll out of DP3 is facilitating household moves through the new system.

DP3 is the automated, end-to-end management system for movement of household goods for members of the armed services and Department of Defense civilians. The new format is replacing the aging Transportation Operational Personal Property Standard System.

The system provides a single, standardized, worldwide, Web-based personal property movement system supporting more than 500,000 shipments annually.

DP3 eases communication between the personal property offices, the contractor and the customer, and improves claims procedures and delivery times.

Other key customer service features include an automated claims settlement module and a built-in customer satisfaction survey. This provides customers the opportunity to rate the performance of their transportation service provider and a mechanism to give feedback on services provided by origin and destination personal property processing and shipping offices.

When the program is fully implemented, DP3 will be available at all Air Force, Army, Marine Corps and Coast Guard installations worldwide. Air Force Traffic Management Flights are supporting the system roll out and are available to help customers navigate through DP3 and process their moves.

With the busy summer season coming, members are strongly encouraged to visit the traffic management flight, personal property element in Bldg. 402, Room 110 immediately upon receipt of permanent change of station orders to initiate their personal property movement.
