Prior to serving at Sheppard and joining the Air Force, one Sheppard member worked behind the scenes with celebrities on a national television show.

Lieutenant Heather Silvio, a U.S. Public Health Service clinical psychologist assigned to the 82nd Medical Operations Squadron, worked for David Letterman as a summer intern earning college credits.

Even though she would like to talk about what she did, she can't without revealing other sensitive show information.

"I had to sign a nondisclosure agreement about the show," said Lieutenant Silvio. But she said she loved working for the show.

"Working behind the scenes for The Late Show was fabulous," she said. "David was great! He was always friendly and really seemed to care about the people who worked for him."

Lieutenant Silvio said she was surprised when she learned about some of Letterman's characteristics.

"One thing I hadn't expected was that he was actually somewhat shy with people he did not know well," said the Lieutenant.

Aside from working with Letterman, there were many aspects of the job that she enjoyed, but she said her favorite part of the job was meeting celebrities, especially when she met one of her favorite stars.

"The most exciting thing was meeting David Duchovny," Lieutenant Silvio said. "I had already been a huge fan of his, and I had the opportunity to talk with him about his graduate school experience before I went to graduate school."

Although she enjoyed her time working at The Late Show, Lieutenant Silvio has pride in her current job working in the Mental Health Clinic providing psychological service to Sheppard Airmen experiencing difficulties. She also functions as a Behavioral Health Consultant in the Family Practice Clinic.

"When the internship was over, I returned to school to earn a degree in an occupation I love," she said.
