80th FTW names annual award winners

80th Flying Training Wing annual awards for 2008 were announced Feb. 21. 

Senior Airman Stephanie Garcia, 80th TRW staff, received the Airman of the Year award. She is a personnel specialist assigned to the commander's support staff who managed the unit intro program which ensured that 134 inbound personnel were properly sponsored and welcomed to Sheppard Air Force Base. 

Tech. Sgt. Tommy Schexnayder, 80th FTW staff, received the NCO of the Year award. He is an aircraft maintenance quality assurance evaluator who drove 387 inspections this past year. He also completed 12 credit hours toward's his bachelor's degree. He also collected and distributed 103 winter coats to impoverished families during the "Coats for Kids" program and participated in the Give a Child a Christmas, Christmas in Action, and Adopt a Pet Day events. 

Master Sgt. Frankie Moore, 80th FTW staff, received the Senior NCO of the award. He is the superintendent of the aircraft maintenance quality assurance office. He was directly involved in Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training's first major airframe transition in more than 40 years. He was recognized as the Wing Senior NCO of the Quarter for January through March 2008 and October through December 2008. 

Capt. Robert Odom, 90th Flying Training Squadron, received the Company Grade Officer of the Year award. He is a flight commander and a T-38 instructor pilot. He is one of six ENJJPT instructor pilots to fly functional check flight sorties. He also revamped the entire program which aided in a 100 percent student pilot pass rate. He was recently selected for the competitive United States Air Force Test Pilot School. 

Maj. Jason Loe, 90th FTS, received the Field grade Officer of the Year award. He is a T-38 instructor pilot. He was selected to escort the Estonian air force Chief of Staff during NATO air chief's visit in October 2008. 

Capt. Brian Wood, 89th FTS, received the Flight Commander of the Year award. He created the ENJJPT T-6 pilot instructor training program from scratch. He implemented and executed two different training syllabi with 100 percent evaluation pass rate. 

Capt. Kenneth Seiver, 88th Fighter Training Squadron, received the Instructor of the Year award. He is the chief of weapons and a T-38C Introduction to Fighter Fundamentals instructor pilot. He won the Operations Group Instructor Pilot of the Month twice and was the Wing Instructor Pilot of the Quarter for January through March 2008. 

Linda Goodwin, 80th Operations Group, received the Civilian of the Year Category I award. As the 80th Operations Group commander's secretary, she maintained the hectic schedules of both the operations group commander and the deputy commander. She was acknowledged by Air Education and Training Command as the expert on international decorations. 

Michele Houck, 80th FTW staff, received the Civilian of the Year Category II award. As the 80th FTW commander's secretary, she ensured that more than 1,200 appointments were met. She also coordinated temporary duty travel arrangements for the commander and the vice commander for 18 TDY trips to locations ranging from San Antonio, TX to Serbia. 

David Hudspecth, 80th Operations Support Squadron, received the Civilian of the Year Category III award. He is an air traffic control specialist in the radar approach control facility. He has devoted more than 200 hours of training for more than 40 controllers enhancing their ability to control aircraft in situations where radar is unavailable.
