MSS helps newlyweds fill out paperwork at Marriage Day Published Jan. 13, 2009 By Mike McKito 82nd Training Wing Public Affairs SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- More than 130 Airmen in Training returned to Sheppard after the Holiday Exodus with a new spouse in tow, prompting the 82nd Mission Support Squadron's annual Marriage Day Jan. 10. Marriage Day gives the MSS and AiT a one-day processing time for newlywed Airmen to complete paperwork required by the Air Force in order to recognize the marriage. The organization of this year's event allowed for a smooth operation to make sure forms were completed properly so benefits and entitlements for the new Air Force spouses could begin. "This year we alphabetized the process which made it more efficient and effective," said Master Sgt. Angela Bosma, 82nd MSS customer support superintendent. "Each Airman was assigned a time to be at the meeting depending on the first letter of their last name." Because of this simple change in assigned reporting times, the 138 Airmen were able to all be processed in one day, compared to up to five working days that it has taken in years' past, Sergeant Bosma said. The new process was met with high praise by at least one Airman. "It's definitely worthwhile," said Airman 1st Class Allan Drage, 382nd Training Squadron. "It's kind of like a one-stop-shop. You're in-and-out and get everything done at once."
