2008 CFC ends surpassing goals Published Oct. 23, 2008 By Staff Sgt. Sandietta Walter SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The 2008 Combined Federal Campaign, "Reaching Out...Raising Hope," raised $336,488, surpassing Team Sheppard's goal for the year before it ended Oct. 10. Only two weeks after the campaign started, the base was already a hair shy of reaching the midway point. The 2008 goal of $260,600 was surely in reach. Team Sheppard continued on this remarkable momentum because not only did it meet the goal, but surpassed it by 30 percent. "Once again, Team Sheppard outshone itself as many gave open-heartedly to a worthy cause." Staff Sgt. Sandietta Walter, a CFC representative, said. This year's campaign started with a kick-off breakfast on Sept. 2 at the Sheppard Club, where members of Sheppard Air Force Base and local organizations came together to see the campaign off to what ended up being an outstanding finish. The CFC is the largest workplace charitable campaign in the country and has over 1,850 charities. These charitable organizations include local, national, and international charities, which give contributors several choices. Some base organizations benefit from the donations, including the Family Support Center, Family Services, Child Development Center, and Youth Centers. Millions of people in need of help will surely benefit from the money raised. "Before you forget this year's campaign, reflect on the impact you just made in so many lives. Be proud of what Team Sheppard just accomplished and next year when the CFC rolls around again, be ready and willing to give to the people who need your help the most." Sergeant Walter said.
