Bray set to operate 82nd MDG Published July 16, 2008 82nd Training Wing Public Affairs SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Col. Timothy Bray accepted command of the 82nd Medical Group from 82nd Training Wing commander Brig. Gen. Richard Devereaux during a change-of-command ceremony July 15 in Hangar 1045. Colonel Bray replaced outgoing medical group commander Col. James King, Jr., who will be moving on to be the deputy surgeon general for Air Force Materiel Command at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. "Jim King has been just what the doctor ordered," General Devereaux said. "But the good people of the 82nd Medical Group will remain in good hands." Colonel Bray entered the Air Force in 1990 after practicing in the private sector for nine years. He has served in a number of command positions, including his latest as squadron commander for the 2nd Dental Squadron, Barksdale AFB, La. As 2nd DS commander he led 16 dental officers and 44 support personnel while controlling $5.1 million in resources. "I'm humbled and honored to be selected to take command of the 82nd MDG," said Colonel Bray. Colonel Bray said he looks forward to working as a team with the members of the 82nd MDG and he will ensure his people get the training and resources they need. Outgoing commander Colonel King has helped keep Sheppard's clinic in the top quarter of all military treatment facilities and led it to be the fourth best in Air Education and Training Command. Colonel King has led the 82nd MDG since Jan. 17, 2007. Colonel Bray's awards and decorations include the Army Expert Field Medical Badge; Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters; Air Force Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal; Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with four oak leaf clusters; and the National Defense Service Medal with one gold star.
