The three housing areas at Sheppard have new names compliments of Team Sheppard member's suggestions, as part of the Sheppard Housing Neighborhood Naming Contest.

The Wherry housing area will become Wind Creek Village; Bunker Hill will become Heritage Heights; and Capehart will be known as Freedom Estates. Balfour Beatty Communities is in the process of making new signs to replace the old signs.

Tech. Sgt. Brian Ross submitted the winning entries of Wind Creek Village and Heritage Heights. Ridley Wherry submitted the winning entry of Freedom Estates. Winners for each winning submittal received a $100 American Express Gift card from Balfour Beatty Communities and free bowling and golf certificates donated by 82nd Services Division.

Due to the housing areas changing tremendously with renovation and the building of new homes, the contest allowed the Sheppard members to help provide a better image for Sheppard's new homes. The contest ran from February 19 to March 8 via ballot or e-mail to the housing office.
