Students compete in Joint Warrior Challenge Published May 28, 2008 By Airman 1st Class Candy Miller 82nd Training Wing, Public Affairs SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Two hundred and twenty-four Air Force, Army and Navy students competed in the 2008 Armed Forces Joint Warrior Challenge, May 24, in observation of Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day. The Yellow A Team from the 365th Training Squadron was the overall winner with the Navy A Team from the 366th Training Squadron a close second. The Yellow A Team won by having the least points of all, 16, which is only a one point difference from the Navy A Team. Yellow A Team was also the winner for the litter carry with a time of 2:41. The Navy A Team won the tug-of war and the rucksack relay with a time of 11:28. The Purple A Team, from the 366th Training Squadron, won the wall climb with a time of 57 seconds. Master Sgt. Michael Mire, the 365th TRS flight chief, said he was overwhelmed and extremely proud of the 365th TRS and all the members of each team. The competition was a physical fitness challenge consisting of two Navy teams, one Army team, and 25 teams of Airmen. Master Sgt. Bradley Ellison, the assistant to the event's project officer said the students don't interact much with members of different services and it was positive for them to work together. Chief Paul Ramirez, the 366th TRS Navy military training director, said the different services are currently doing a lot of joint operations out on the field and instilling the camaraderie early is beneficial to the young troops.
