Air Education and Training Command recently named a Team Sheppard member the winner of the 2008 National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Roy Wilkins Renown Service Award.

Maj. MiMi Cannonier, 383rd Training Squadron, won the award based on her contribution to her country in the area of civil/human rights, race relations, equal opportunity, affirmative action, human resources and public service, according to an AETC message on the award.

Some of Major Cannonier's accomplishments that led to the award include:

- As the lead project officer for the Martin Luther King, Jr. luncheon, she coordinated the speakers, soloist, and children's praise dancers impacting over 250 personnel.

- Major Cannonier was the wing's representative who planned and executed with ease a two-day cultural and religious event.

- She coordinated 300 Christmas in Action volunteers who renovated and repaired over 150 homes for low income and disabled families.

Major Cannonier will continue on to compete at the Air Force level.
