The San Antonio Chamber of Commerce visited the 882nd Training Group May 5 to May 7 to discuss the transition of group to San Antonio and to get an understanding of what's coming to San Antonio.

"We need to know what you do to make the transition as easy as possible." said retired Brigadier Gen. Robert Murdock, the director of military affairs for the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce.

The chamber is trying to relieve any fears of moving to San Antonio, said Greg Oveland, the President of Eisenhower Bank.

At a meeting May 6, members of the chamber of commerce gave a briefing and brochures to ensure 882nd TRG members and their families received all possible information about the transfer to San Antonio. They also had a question and answer session.

The meeting held discussions involving relocation information, transition, and the quality of life in San Antonio.

Col. Kris Beasley, vice commander of the 82 Training Wing, and Col. Nancy Dezell, 882 TRG commander also chaired a community relations overview for the San Antonio group.

Key leaders of Wichita County presented their perspective on the role Sheppard plays in the community- outlining education, volunteerism, partnership and the Squadron Adopter Program.

City mayors, the county judge, area businessmen, and the executive director of Work Source Solutions were on hand to answer questions from the economic and civic viewpoint for the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce.

"We truly got a good feel for your layout and mission," said General Murdock.
