General Mannon selected to lead 82nd TRW

Brig. Gen. O. G. Mannon was named March 27 as the next commander of the 82nd Training Wing. 

General Mannon is currently the Deputy Director of Special Operations, J-37, Joint Staff, Pentagon, Washington, DC, and will replace Brig. Gen. Richard Devereaux, 82nd TRW commander. 

It was also confirmed that General Devereaux will become the deputy director of Air, Space and Information Operations, Headquarters Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill. 

General Mannon has been an instructor pilot, a numbered Air Force airlift execution officer, the deputy commanding officer and chief of staff to Special Operations Command South. He also commanded a joint special operations air component and was Joint Special Operations Task Force Deputy Commander in Northern Iraq during the opening days and weeks of Operation Iraqi Freedom. 

In addition, he has commanded an Afghanistan-based joint task force and commanded an expeditionary special operations wing controlling special operations aviation assets from three services supporting operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. 

He is a command pilot, with more than 4,400 flying hours. He has flown the T-37, T-38, C-130A/E, TC-690, C-212, CE-425, DHC-6-100/300, MC-130P and MC-130E. 

Change of command ceremonies are being planned for this summer, with dates to be announced.
