Air Force identifies deceased Airman

Officials have identified the Airman who died March 7 at Sheppard AFB as Senior Airman Blanca A. Luna, an Air Force Reserve member on temporary duty to Sheppard from the 434rd Civil Engineer Squadron at Grissom Air Reserve Base, Ind.

Airman Luna had been attending the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning initial skills course with the 366th Training Squadron since September. She was scheduled to graduate March 10.

Airman Luna was discovered in her base lodging room unresponsive and with a stab wound at 8:50 a.m. March 7. She was immediately transferred to United Regional Hospital where she was pronounced dead at about 9:35 a.m.

The incident is under investigation by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations and the Sheppard AFB security forces squadron.
