Use of Missile Road will be restricted beginning Feb. 25 to all motorists till July, as the 82nd Civil Engineer Squadron prepares it to be the home of the new visitor's center.

The more-than $450,000 project will cause outbound traffic on Missile Road to be reduced to one lane beginning at Avenue B and continuing westward to the entry gate on Burkburnett Road. Both inbound lanes at the Missile Road entry gate will remain open.

However when motorists reach the intersection at Avenue A, the right inbound lane must turn south onto Avenue A, and only the left inbound lane will continue east on Missile Road.

Once the construction is completed in July, Missile Road will revert back to two inbound and two outbound lanes, with new entry gate checkpoints located near Bldg. 1405, which will become the new visitor center. Avenue A will remain open to through traffic until the new visitor center opens in July. At that time, Avenue A will be permanently close between Bldg.'s 1404 and 1405.

In addition, Bldg. 1405 is undergoing remodeling and a new parking lot is being built behind it.

This project is part of the multi-million dollar base-wide project to improve Sheppard's gates.
