AFFSC to handle some financial service Published Dec. 4, 2007 By 82nd Comptroller Squadron SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Sheppard's 82nd Comptroller Squadron is about two months away from its transformation from a traditional financial service center to the Air Force's Financial Services Center. The cutover will take place Feb. 11. The initiative is designed to provide more effective and efficient finance operations within 93 separate base finance operations worldwide by consolidating some processes into the AFFSC, based at Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D. The transformation is expected to save the Air Force about $210 million. Airmen will have more flexibility in obtaining service through a 24-hour-a-day self-service option online. Walk-in service will be available for some finance duties, but customers are encouraged to use the new service options. To visit the AFFSC website, go to the Air Force Portal and place the cursor over the "Life & Career" tab. Click on "Money - Financial Central" and then select "Air Force Financial Services Center."
