A few modifications to the base multimedia center contract will have Sheppard customers seeing the big picture again.

Frank Schmidt, the 82nd Communications Squadron Base Multimedia Center manager, said effective Oct. 1, the graphics department at the center will resume production of posters for customers. The service was removed from the previous contract option year as a cost-saving measure as budgets got tighter.

"This adjustment is merely a refinement of the products and services to better meet the specific needs of the base leadership for managerial support as well as technical and flying training," Mr. Schmidt said. "Concerning the extensive self-help photography adjustment, it is just a case of technology making digital photography readily available to document routine events."

Although the production of posters is back on line, Mr. Schmidt said some services were reduced to offset the costs of making the placards. For example, the three simultaneous photo shoots previously available will now be limited to one for wing-level events and above.

He said three digital cameras are available for self-help use for agencies that do not fit the criteria for photography support.

Another alteration in service comes from the presentation side of the center. The section will be limited to two events simultaneously at group-level and above functions.

Self-help equipment for presentation purposes is also available for squadron-level and below functions. Equipment checked out must be picked up and returned by the requesting agency.

Presentation self-help equipment includes portable public address systems, projectors, laptop computers, microphones, speakers and DVD, VCR and CD players.
