HHH to cause closures on Sheppard Published Aug. 14, 2007 SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- There will be several road and facility closures while the Hotter'N Hell Hundred visits Sheppard. Sixth street in front of the Airman's club, and H Ave in front of the Pitsenbarger gym will be blocked at 5 p.m. on Friday Aug. 24. The Pitsenbarger Fitness Center parking lot will be blocked starting 5 p.m. Please ensure vehicles are removed before this time from these areas. Unauthorized vehicles may be towed away. The Pitsenbarger Gym will be closed Saturday Aug. 25, and reopen for patron use Sunday Aug 26. The Levitow Fitness Center will be the base fitness facility for Saturday Aug. 25. On Saturday Aug. 25, the following roads will be blocked off due to the race. All closures are effective from 7 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. Missile Road gate will be closed to inbound and outbound personal vehicles. Please utilize the Hospital gate for base access as the main gate will be reduced to one in-bound lane. Missile Road will be closed to all traffic from the gate to Bridwell. Also, G Ave will be closed entirely for the race. The only available cross streets will be 9th Ave and 4th Ave, which will be manned by road guards. All other entrances and exits on G Ave will be blocked. H Ave in front of the Pitsenbarger Fitness Center will remain closed. Outside lane of E Ave through front gate will be closed to allow riders to exit the base, also, 1st Ave from H Ave to E Ave will be closed. The off ramp to the main gate from Texas 240/Burkburnett Rd will be closed for the bikes to exit and continue eastbound on Texas 240. Please exercise caution when driving both on base and in the local community the weekend of Aug. 24-26 due to the influx of cyclists. It's anticipated that 8,000 to 10,000 riders will be riding through Sheppard on Aug. 25.
