Hellcats defeat Mean Machine in AIT softball finals Published Aug. 15, 2007 By Airman 1st Class Jacob Corbin 82nd Training Wing Public Affairs SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The 361st Training Squadron Hellcats defeated the 366th TRS Mean Machine 10-3 in intramural softball action Aug. 8 during the 2007 Airmen in Training Softball Championships. The Hellcats defense held off the Mean Machine for seven innings while their offense continued to bring in runs. The champs started out strong defensively, quickly ending the top of the first with a triple play. In the bottom of the first, John Mcinnes started the scoring for the Hellcats, making it 1-0. It was a slow few innings before scoring continued when the Hellcats gained six runs in the bottom of the third, including two off of a Mcinnes single. A triple by Jerod Grieme late in the inning helped two of his teammates make it home. The Mean Machine wouldn't go down without a fight though, scoring two runs in the top of the fourth and one in the top of the sixth. The Hellcat defense finished the game the way it started, completing a three-up, three-down at bat for the Mean Machine.
