TRICARE Online good starting point for beneficiaries

SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas --  TRICARE Online gives beneficiaries a one-stop shop for links to health care services, resources and information through a secure Internet environment.

Beneficiaries enrolled at the Sheppard Clinic can make an appointment to see their primary care manager and access information about the clinic and TRICARE region.

They can also access the Rx Checker for information about medications as well as possible harmful drug interactions. There is also an extensive health and wellness sections with special sections on women's health, men, teens and children. In addition to TRICARE benefits and services information, beneficiaries can also find links to other government sites.

Getting set up to use TRICARE Online is as easy as the click of a button. Here are the steps required to register for TRICARE Online:

1. Go to www.tricareonline.com
2. Read the online privacy and security policy and click "I AGREE"
3. Click "Site Registration"
4. Click "Patient Registration Only (Beneficiary)"
5. Read the disclaimer and, in applicable, click "I AGREE"
6. Follow the directions on the screen to complete the registration. At least five of the security questions must be answered

Persons signing up need their sponsor's Social Security Number. All family members will need to register separately with their own Social Security Number, as well as a separate user ID and password.

Scheduling appointments is also fast and easy on TRICARE Online. As a registered user, beneficiaries can access available appointments 24 hours a day by following these steps:

1. Go to www.tricareonline.com
2. Read the online privacy and security policy and click "I AGREE"
3. Log on by using a user ID and password
4. Click "Appointments"
5. Select a "Visit Reason" from the drop down menu items and click "View Available Appointments"
6. Available appointments for primary care managers will be displayed
7. Select an appointment or following the directions for other options

TRICARE Online provides a wealth of information and functionality, including the ability to schedule appointments at any time, view functions, maps, contact information and clinic hours, view TRICARE programs such as dental and pharmacy services, create a personal health journal and access health information and management tools.
