National Anthem contest wraps up

The Air Force 60th Anniversary committee held auditions April 26 to choose the singer for the Air Force 60th Anniversary Ball at the South Chapel.

Eight hopefuls auditioned, but in the end only three were chosen, one primary singer and two alternates. The winner was Staff Sgt. Aaron Winslow, from the 365th Training Squadron. In the event he is unable to perform at the ball, Staff Sgt. Randy Stanley, 360th TRS, and Ms. Tara Elliott, wife of Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Ronald Elliott, an instructor with the 382nd TRS, were chosen as alternates.

According to the judges for the event, it was a tough competition and all participants were very strong candidates.

Applicants were judged on lyric knowledge, enthusiasm, confidence and volume, as well as other criteria.

The Air Force 60th Anniversary Ball will be held Sept. 22 in hangar 1045.
