Military Spouse Appreciation Day May 11 Published May 3, 2007 By Valerie Cook 82nd Mission Support Squadron SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Thank you! That will be the underlying theme at the annual Military Spouse Appreciation event, scheduled at the Community Activity Center May 11 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Once a year, time is set aside to publicly recognize our military spouses, those who wear the invisible uniform. In 1984, President Reagan proclaimed the Friday before Mother's Day of each year to be Military Spouse Appreciation Day. This day has been set aside to honor and thank the unsung heroes - the many men and women who support their uniformed spouses at home. Now more than ever, the husbands and wives in the military are facing a trying time, so it's important to pay tribute to our spouses. To show gratitude toward these men and women, the Airman & Family Readiness Flight, in partnership with many other base agencies, is planning a morning featuring a fashion show, music, food and free massages. Representatives from Information, Tickets and Tours, Starbucks Coffee, the Health and Wellness Center, and many other agencies will be on hand to show their appreciation.
