The 82nd Security Forces Squadron Cops defeated the 82nd Communications Squadron in intramural basketball action, 49-31, Tuesday night at the Levitow Fitness Center.

It was a neck-and-neck battle through out the majority of the game, but a second-half surge by the Cops sealed the win.

A large amount of the scoring in the first half came from free-throws as officials repeatedly called fouls on both sides.

Both teams were evenly matched, continuously rotating players off the bench to keep their members fresh.

"We just had to hustle and keep up the intensity," said Anna Ricks, the 82nd SFS coach.
It was nearly tied at the half, 27-24, but that soon changed when the teams took the court. Ten minutes into the second half, the Cops did just what their coach wanted and turned up their intensity, quickly widening the lead.

The Cops ended the game as time ran out with a 3-pointer that left the score at 49-31.
Not content with just winning, Ricks said the Cops are looking to improve both their skills and energy on the court.

"We need to work on our motivation and attitude," Ricks said. "(Which is) something every team needs."

The 82nd CS also plans on working on their skills, not worried at their loss.
"It was our first game," said Antonio Guerra, the 82nd CS coach. "We need to rebound better and we will rebound better."

Both teams continue their seasons Tuesday. Call the Pitsenbarger Fitness Center at 676-0491 for more information.
