A few of Sheppard's training programs will go Air Force-wide over the next week as they are featured on Air Force News.

Print journalist Tech. Sgt. Cecilio Ricardo and broadcast journalist Senior Airman Brad Cameron began their work on stories Wednesday with the 982nd Training Group's trainer development flight. The two-man crew ventured out to the 80th Flying Training Wing to report on the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training program.

They finish their coverage of Sheppard today at the 383rd Training Squadron's Aerospace Medical Service Apprentice Course.

Senior Airman Cameron said the reason for their visit is simple - the Air Force is putting emphasis on its training and readiness.

"Our motto is 'we tell the story of the Air Force,'" he said. "And that (training and readiness) is the important thing right now." He also said they cover stories affecting the Air Force as a whole.

The 982nd TRG's trainer development flight was spotlighted because they produce a majority of the trainers and training aids for Sheppard. At the same time, they also contract out their services to training facilities beyond Sheppard. Last year they produce 1,000 trainers and training aides.

ENJJPT earned its time in the spotlight because several air forces depend on the new pilots trained here. Also, the program's 25th anniversary is rapidly approaching.
The 383rd TRS's Aerospace Medical Service Apprentice Course is being covered because of the state-of-the-art simulated training ward. It is one of a relatively few resident programs with the newest model simulated manikins.

"Now days, you have to do more with less," Sergeant Ricardo said. "Having good training programs helps."

Tech. Sgt. Ricardo said the print stories are usually appear on AFNEW the day after he conducts interviews and takes photos. The trainer development flight story would run Thursday, with the ENJJPT and 383rd TRS stories at the end of the week or the beginning of next week.

Senior Airman Cameron said his story over the trainer development flight would most likely run on Friday, with the ENJJPT and AMSA stories running Monday and Tuesday respectively.
