82d Medical Group Welcomes New Commander

SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas --

The Sheppard Clinic is under new leadership! The 82d Medical Group bid farewell to Colonel Sarah Evans on Friday, June 13 as she successfully completed her two-year command tour.

Brigadier General Paul Filcek served as the presiding officer of the Change of Command ceremony to relieve Colonel Evans and pass the 82d Medical Group’s guidon to Colonel Franklin Porcil, who he instructed to keep making progress.

“You have to come in and take it to the next level. You always want the next person to come in and do it even better.”

That instruction however, came with a caveat.

“You do this by lifting your Airmen up,” Gen Filcek continued. “You don’t leave footprints on anyone’s backs,”

Following the passing of the guidon, Colonel Porcil expressed his appreciation for his selection as the 82d Medical Group’s Commander, and the trust placed in him to lead the Mustang Medics.
