The Annual Water Quality Report, also known as the Consumer Confidence Report, released by the Sheppard Medical Group Bioenvironmental Engineering office shows that the drinking water supplied to Sheppard AFB meets or exceeds all Environmental Protection Agency water quality standards.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality requires all public water systems to publish an Annual Drinking Water Quality Report by July 1 each year to inform consumers about the safety and quality of their drinking water. The 2025 report provides a snapshot of water quality data collected between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2025, and includes detailed information about where Sheppard’s water comes from, what it contains, and how it compares to federal and state regulatory standards.

Sheppard AFB is a wholesale water customer of the city of Wichita Falls’ public drinking water system. The city receives its water from three primary sources: Lake Arrowhead, Lake Kickapoo, and Lake Kemp. Wichita Falls conducts the majority of monitoring and treatment of the water, while Sheppard’s Bioenvironmental Engineering team performs additional surveillance to identify contaminants or hazards specific to the installation’s distribution system.
