Tax preparation program seeking volunteers

SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas --  The Sheppard Tax Center will open on Feb 1 and will remain open throughout the tax season until April 18. 

The Sheppard Tax Center is seeking volunteers.  In conjunction with the Internal Revenue Service, the Tax Center provides free training to those interested.  For those with previous tax preparation experience, training will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Jan. 11.  For those without previous tax preparation experience, training will be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 12-14 with a certification test on Jan. 15.  Volunteers must be able to commit to a minimum of 4 hours per week from Feb. 1 to Apr. 18. 

"This is a great opportunity to help those in need as well as learn an incredibly useful life skill and gain valuable experience," said Capt. Lin Gan, Tax Center officer in charge.
