Staff Sgt. Austin Bryan, 361st Training Squadron aircrew egress systems instructor and native of Clay City, Ind., has been in the Air Force for six and a half years and is the Instructor of the Week at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, for the week of Nov. 24-30, 2015.

How he impacts the training mission:

"Staff Sergeant Bryan is an outstanding instructor who goes out of his way to mentor and guide his trainees," said Chief Master Sgt. Gregory Beisley, 361st TRS superintendent. "He is one of the first to step forward to engage in squadron events and consistently establishes himself as a leader. In addition to his core duties, he also serves as the squadron unit fitness program manager, as well as the unit's representative to the crisis action team. He is an excellent model for the Air Force's newest Airman to emulate and was recently recognized as one of his flight's top three tech training instructors."

Most significant accomplishments:

- Marrying his wife.
- Earning the John L. Levitow award at Airman Leadership School.
- Receiving the Maintenance Professional of the Year Award.

"Staff Sergeant Bryan grew up in a small farming town in Indiana and joined the Air Force in 2009," Beisley said. "He completed aircrew egress systems training at Sheppard and then continued on to Shaw Air Force Base for his first permanent station. From there Sergeant Bryan proceeded to Kunsan Air Base, Korea for a year tour before arriving at Sheppard in May of 2013."
