Jack named 'MTL of the Week' Published Sept. 30, 2015 By Staff Reports 82nd Training Wing Public Affairs SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Tech. Sgt. Latonya Jack, 372nd Training Squadron, Detachment one, Military Training Leader and native of Jeanerette, La., has been in the Air Force for 14 years and is the MTL of the Week for Sept. 29-Oct. 5, 2015. Jack is responsible for the professional and personal development of new Airmen entering the Air Force from Basic Military Training. How she impacts the training mission: "As an MTL, Tech. Sgt. Jack is responsible for leading new Airmen, continually enforcing high standards of conduct and discipline, mentoring and accountability," said Master Sgt. Daniel Hopkins, detachment chief. "Being the middle person between basic training and the Airmen's first duty station, she assists each Airman in all aspects of transitioning from everyday civilian life to military life. She provides consistent directions for all Airmen whether it's doing dorm inspections, in and out-processing, conducting career progression briefings or leading physical training sessions. On a daily basis, she provides them with the skills that are needed to make a smooth transition and adapt to the ways of the Air Force. Tech. Sgt. Jack's dedication to her Airmen prepares them for success as well as provides the Air Force with highly trained and motivated, self-disciplined, and physically fit Airmen." Most significant accomplishments: · Graduated with a bachelor's degree in workforce education and development. · Awarded junior MTL of the 2nd Quarter. · Crossed over first Sorority Line in the military sorority, Kappa Epsilon Psi. "Tech. Sgt. Jack was born and raised in Jeanerette, Louisiana," Hopkins said. "She has five brothers and three sisters. She graduated high school in 1998, attended University of Louisiana at Lafayette for three years and then joined the Air Force in 2001. Tech. Sgt. Jack's first duty station was Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana, where she worked as a Non-Destructive Inspection journeyman on B-52's and A-10's from 2001-2007. In 2007, she PCS'd [permanent change of Station] to Osan Air Base, Korea. As an NDI craftsman, she worked on A-10's and F-16's. In 2008, she PCS'd to Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina working with C-17's, and in 2013 she became the NCO in charge of the section supervising nine military and four civilian personnel. Finally, in 2014, she PCS'd to Seymour Johnson as a Military Training Leader."
