1st Lt. Ryan Fantasia, 90th Flying Training Squadron flight scheduler and instructor pilot and native of San Diego, Calif., has been in the Air Force for three years and is the Instructor of the Week for Sept. 22-28, 2015. Fantasia is responsible for scheduling flights and training the next generation of Air Force pilots to provide decisive combat power.

How he impacts the training mission:

"1st Lt. Ryan Fantasia has flown more than 140 sorties in the past three months," said Lt. Col. AJ Caldwell. "He has the second most hours and sorties of all T-38C instructors in the entire 80th Flying Training Wing and is an essential part of the wing being an astounding three and a half days ahead of a timeline for T-38C pilot training; the farthest ahead the wing has been in well over a year. As a scheduler, Lt. Fantasia has pressed his own flight seven days ahead, despite numerous manning, maintenance, and weather pitfalls."

Most significant accomplishments:

· 90th Flying Training Squadron Instructor Pilot of the Quarter.
· Coordinated painting their squadron patch on the schoolhouse roof.

"I grew up in San Diego, Calif., and attended college at the United States Air Force Academy," said Fantasia. "This is where I fell in love with flight in its purest form; instructing basic freefall. After graduation, I was given the opportunity to attend undergraduate pilot training as a student here at Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training and earned my wings in April 2015. As follow-on to pilot training, I was selected to remain at ENJJPT to complete pilot instructor training; becoming a member of NATOs elite Instructor pilot core, and a part of the 90th Boxin' Bears."
