How she impacts Sheppard's mission:
"Staff Sgt. Lyons is a military working dog trainer assigned to the 82nd Security Forces Squadron," said U.S. Air Force Capt. Yonca Nice. "As such, she is directly responsible for the training and maintenance of seven military working dog teams. The dog teams that she trains provide Sheppard Air Force Base with a force multiplier that includes narcotic and explosive detection, suspect location and apprehension, and physical and psychological deterrence. In addition to Sheppard, her dog teams also support local, state, and federal agencies in both dignitary protection and humanitarian assistance. With the assets that she employs, Sheppard is able to continue its training mission without the constant fear of terrorist or extremist violence."
