Sheppard will host the annual Freedom Fest celebration in honor of Independence Day Saturday, July 4, 2015.

The event will be held on base and the gates will open at 3:30 pm, with the event kicking off at 4 p.m.  The fireworks show starts at night fall, which will be around 10 p.m.

Both the event and parking are free and open to the public featuring live music, fireworks and activities for all ages.

"It's going to be wonderful," said Lt . Col. Jeffery White, Freedom Fest lead. "Freedom Fest is going to be an amazing celebration for the fourth of July out at the base."

There will also be an unlimited access kid's play area available for purchase for $5 at the event or, for members with base access, $4 at the base Youth Center or Child Development Center.

The fun begins from the start with live music by Estilo Tejano at 4 p.m., Infinite Journey at 5:30 p.m. and Mike Ryan at 8:25 p.m.  Blankets and chairs are welcome to those enjoying the event. There will also be a small military parade with the base Airmen starting at 8 p.m.

"This is a great chance for the base to showcase itself, open the doors for the community, and invite everybody out to see the airplanes and some displays," said White.

The Hospital Gate entrance will be open for public access.  All Active Duty and DoD personnel will be able to use the Main gate with proper identification.  Weapons, alcohol, coolers or pets will not be permitted inside the event.

Don't miss out on the opportunity to celebrate Independence Day with the base and the community.  For more information visit the Freedom Fest website here.
