82nd Training Wing to receive new wing commander

Brig. Gen. Scott Kindsvater, will relinquish command of the 82nd Training Wing June 18, 2015 to Brig. Gen. Patrick Doherty in Hangar 1045.

Doherty was previously stationed at the Pentagon, Washington D.C. with U.S. Air Force Headquarters as the Director of Air Force Services. 

Kindsvater will depart to Shaw Air Force Base, S.C. where he will become the assistant deputy commander of U.S. Air Forces Central Command and assistant vice commander of 9th Air Expeditionary Task Force in Air Combat Command. 

At his new assignment, Kindsvater will assist with development of contingency plans and the execution of air operations for the 20-nation U.S. Central Command area of responsibility covering Central and Southwest Asia.

Doherty is a 1987 Iowa State University graduate and received his commission through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program there. He served initially as a B-52 navigator and then was later selected for Undergraduate Pilot Training program where he pinned on his wings as a command pilot for the F-15E Strike Eagle. He currently has more than 3,800 hours of flight time.

In his previous position, Doherty was responsible for the policy, technical direction and oversight for the $2 billion world-wide Service program, which includes Comprehensive Airman Fitness, physical fitness, peacetime and wartime troop feeding, Air Force Mortuary Affairs Operations, Armed Forces entertainment, Air Force protocol, lodging, libraries, child development centers, youth centers and a wide spectrum of recreational activities.
