The Sheppard Tax Center is open to military personnel E-6 and below, officers O-3 and below, retirees 60 years of age and older, and family members of these individuals.

The tax center, located in Bldg. 315, is open and will remain open throughout the tax season until April 15, 2015.

Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. with extended hours for AiTs, MTIs and MTLs on Tuesdays from  4-6 p.m.
To expedite service, Tax Center clients may print and complete IRS form 13614-C Intake/Interview & Quality Review Sheet before having their taxes prepared. The form is available for pickup at the Tax Center or online at www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f13614c.pdf .

The base Tax Center is not the only place taxpayers can get their taxes done for free.  Below is a list of available tax preparation options:

1.  North Texas Area United Way (Wichita Falls) provides free tax preparation and assistance with the Earned Income Tax Credit and other tax credits to families with a household income of $60,000 or less.  To make an appointment for tax preparation, dial 2-1-1, option 1 or 877-541-7905.

2.  Military OneSource H&R Block At Home Tax Program offers a no-cost electronic tax return filing service for military members and their families.  This service allows you to complete, save, and file your 2014 federal and up to three state returns online at no cost.  For more information, visit www.militaryonesource.mil/taxes or call 1-800-342-9647.

3.  IRS Free File.  The IRS, in partnership with the Free File Alliance, offers no-cost tax services to qualified taxpayers, primarily individuals with incomes of less than $60,000.  For additional information, visit freefile.irs.gov.

4.  TurboTax Deluxe Online Federal Edition is free for all USAA active duty military through March 20, 2015.  USAA members who are active duty military ranks E1 to E5 can continue to file for free through April 15.
