The Air Education and Training Command to Promote Safety Award for fiscal year 2014 was presented to 82nd Training Wing Safety at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, Jan. 8, 2015. According to the citation, the 82nd TRW Safety Office was lauded as the leading safety office in the command, garnering an “Outstanding”, “Highly Effective” and “Best Seen-to-Date,” rating during visits and events in fiscal year 2014.
The Air Education Training Command Ground Safety Manager of the Year Award for fiscal year 2014 was presented to Mark Schaffer, 82nd Training Wing Safety, Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, Jan. 8, 2015. Schaffer served as the Ground Safety Manager, in support of two wings, 29 squadrons, 61 detachments worldwide, and 62,000 technical trainees. According to the citation, Schaffer took charge of the base’s motorcycle safety program and developed “Motorcycle Safety Tools,” giving commanders an at-their-fingertips resource for all of their motorcycle safety needs.
The Air Education Training Command Weapons Safety Manager of the Year Award for fiscal year 2014 was presented to James Jett, 82nd Training Wing Safety, Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, Jan. 8, 2015. Jett served as the Weapons Safety Manager, in support of two wings, 29 squadrons, 61 detachments worldwide, and 62,000 technical trainees. According to the citation, Jett’s continuing efforts led the Weapons Safety division here in continuing an outstanding “ZERO” reportable weapons mishaps nine years running.
