Sometimes finding time to accomplish even the most seemingly miniscule task can be a hassle, but now that the 80th Flying Training Wing has its very own barbershop, getting a haircut will be an easy check off the to-do list.

Air Force Instruction 36-2903 chapter three, lists the hair grooming guidelines which must be maintained at all times by personnel. For male military members, this means getting haircuts regularly to adhere to standards.

2nd Lt. Riley Platt, 80th FTW commanders support staff section commander, played a key role in getting a barbershop for the 80th FTW.

"Over the past couple of months I've worked with the Force Support Squadron, contracting and the Pacific Architects and Engineers, and eventually got it all set up a few months later," Platt said.

The 80th FTW is home to the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot training program and is located on the north side of base.

"With the new barbershop being where it's at, its super convenient and helpful," said Senior Airman Christian Cooper, 80th FTW information manager.

"It will help uniform appearance and also pilots have crazy work hours so it's super convenient having a barbershop right here as opposed to going all the way across base," Platt said.

For now, the barbershop will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

"Once business picks up we will open it full time Monday through Friday," Platt said.

This is one of the many accommodations on base made available by the 82nd Force Support Squadron. There are other barbershops located at the Sheppard Club, the mini-mall and the main Base Exchange.
