The base awarded $15 million at the end of this fiscal year to support energy conservation projects over the next twelve months.

As Sheppard continues to promote and support a Cost Conscious Culture, these funds will maximize eight large projects designed to reduce utility consumption costs by more than $1.6 million annually.

Three projects focus on modernizing lighting systems on Sheppard and the other five projects address Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning and mechanical upgrades throughout the installation.

The energy team here supports the supply and consumption of every necessary watt of electricity, gallon of water and cubic foot of natural gas to successfully and comfortably accomplish the mission.

Throughout October, Sheppard supports and promotes Energy Action Month. As the Air Force enters into the new fiscal year, Team Sheppard is encouraged to help continued action to reduce unnecessary utility usage by any and all means possible.

During this month, public affairs and the energy department will provide guidance on how everyone can conserve energy and water to the help environment.  In the upcoming weeks, there will be opportunities for base personnel to participate and support this initiative.
