The Airman's club on base opened its doors for business Aug. 22, 2014 after a new round of renovations.

The renovations include new patio arrangements to accommodate more patrons; this is just one part of the ongoing restoration effort.

"It's nice for us to be able to entertain more," said Melissa Afshar, 82nd Force Support Squadron club operations assistant.

Afshar takes pride in the clubs' improved atmosphere as the club continues to grow both in resources and popularity.

Many of the student military members who visit the club are away from home, months at a time, and the club's mission primarily caters to keeping their morale high. It is a mission Afshar takes seriously.

The patio is one of many welcome additions that to the club.

"I'm glad that it's finally here," she commented.

With hundreds of student service members coming through the club on any given day, it serves as a social hub where other military personnel can interact with each other. Afshar wants her customers to leave Sheppard with positive enduring memories of the club.

"I want them to leave remembering this place," she said.

As the Airman's Club continues to welcome new service members through its doors, there will be personnel hard at work continuing to improve espirit de corps.
