HHH will be riding through Sheppard Aug. 23 Published Aug. 15, 2014 82nd Training Wing Public Affairs SHEPPARD ARB, Texas -- It's that time of year again -- the annual Hotter 'N Hell Hundred bicycle race will ride through Sheppard Aug. 23. The event will start in downtown Wichita Falls at 7 a.m. as both Sheppard wing commanders fire the cannons that open the race. Here at Sheppard, the Missile Road and main gates will be open from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. as bikers ride through the base beginning along Missile Road, Ave G and 1st Street. With a steady flow of riders throughout the day, expect delays as the riders will have priority along the routes. Security Forces will manage all intersections, block off all parking lots neighboring the route and maintain safety for the riders. Base access will be limited to the hospital entrance and the main gate. The hospital entrance will be the only inbound and outbound entrance. The main gate will be outbound only. If you live on base and are planning on leaving the area we advise that you leave prior to 7 a.m. or plan for a late departure. Contractors and deliveries needing access to the base will report to the hospital entrance and will receive a paper pass to access the base, and should expect delays if they have cross any of the routes listed. Thank you in advance for your patience and caution as we support this great event -- it's an important opportunity to showcase Sheppard and the Air Force to thousands of riders.
