Air Force Leadership Pathways program launches July 8 Published July 3, 2014 By Kristen Gibson 82nd Training Wing Community Support Coordinator SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Sheppard AFB will premiere its version of the Air Force Leadership Pathways program beginning July 8. Leadership Pathways is an educational initiative created to encourage all members of Team Sheppard -- including our military and civilian Airmen, joint service and NATO warriors and their families to participate in a variety of health, wellness and developmental courses aimed at providing training in different areas. The Leadership Pathways concept synchronizes the many courses offered across Sheppard AFB by offering consolidated enrollment capability through the Appointment Plus System. Courses are offered by the Integrated Delivery System agencies and Team Sheppard's Private Professional Organizations covering a wide variety of areas relevant to healthy functioning, relationship-building skills, child and teen rearing, finance, conflict management, goal setting, leadership development, senior leader mentoring and other life situations. The Leadership Pathways concept also incentivizes participation in the qualified courses. Participants will be able to earn three levels of recognition based on their course completion transcript: · "Wingman" Level will consist of squadron recognition for completing eight courses · "Leader" Level is group recognition following completion of 15 courses · "Warrior" Level is wing recognition for completing 20 or more courses "Wings, groups and squadrons are made up of individuals, and as those individuals work to make themselves a little stronger and a little more resilient, it makes the whole unit stronger," said 82nd Training Wing Commander Brig. Gen. Scott A. Kindsvater. "Supervisors and leaders at all levels should encourage their people to get engaged and we all need to make the personal effort to participate in Leadership Pathways," he said. "As we do, we'll see morale, readiness and mission effectiveness continue to improve across the base, and that's what Leadership Pathways is all about." Although earning recognition will be a great incentive for personnel to register for courses, the education and knowledge gained through significant self-improvement and professional development is the ultimate goal. Courses are designed to cover all Pillars of Resilience: Social, Mental, Spiritual and Physical. Participants are expected to select courses across all Four Pillars to qualify for recognition.
