Armed Forces Voters Week runs Jun 30 through Jul 7 Published June 27, 2014 SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Voting, it is a vital right we in the Armed Forces defend every day. By exercising your right to vote you are letting your voice be known, and you're telling your civic leader that you care what decisions are being made. As Andrew Lack said, "Bad officials are elected by good citizens who do not vote." For such an important right, there are a lot of myths about voting. Here is the truth behind some of the myths. Your Installation Voter Assistance Office is here to help you exercise the very right you protect-your right to vote! Your Voting Assistance Officers can help you register to vote, request an absentee ballot, and notify your local election officials back home of a change of address. The voting office supports all voting-eligible personnel with access to Sheppard Air Force Base including uniformed military personnel, Department of Defense civilian employees, and their dependents. The Sheppard Voter Assistance Office is located on the first floor of Building 402 in Room 108 (DEERS office). The office is open for walk-ins on Wednesdays from 2p.m. until 3p.m., and by appointment. An appointment can be made by email (votesheppard@us.af.mil) or telephone (940) 676-4837.
