Prescription renewals to be submitted thru MiCare beginning Apr. 1 Published April 2, 2014 82nd Medical Group SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- MiCare secure messaging is an online service that allows patients to take command of their healthcare by offering efficient electronic exchange between patients and their healthcare team. With over 3,000 members already enrolled here at Sheppard, MiCare allows for a more secure exchange of health information compared to using a personal email account. The Sheppard Clinic has over 3000 members already enrolled. Jump on the MiCare super highway for the easiest way to connect with your medical staff. Sheppard Clinic's goal is to enroll all patients into MiCare and utilize secure messaging as the primary form of communication between patients and their healthcare teams. Use MiCare to: · Request your next appointment · Receive test and lab results · Communicate online with the healthcare team about non-urgent symptoms · Request a copy of your immunization record · Access a large library of patient education materials Sheppard Clinic has developed a new policy to aid our beneficiaries in renewing prescriptions. Beginning April 1, 2014, patients needing a prescription renewal will be required to submit their request using the MiCare system. This is the quickest, most efficient method to renew expired prescriptions. You must have a MiCare account and use this system for prescriptions only when: · The beneficiary is assigned a primary care physician at Sheppard Clinic · The prescription has passed the expiration date · The prescription has no more refills available Beneficiaries can sign up for MiCare at any Sheppard clinic front desk (i.e. Family Practice, Pediatrics or Internal Medicine). To register, patients will need to show their military identification card and provide basic information such as name, social security number, birthday and email address.
