On Thursday, March 13 to 14, road construction will begin to repair Avenue E between 9th and 5th Avenues. Avenue E will be closed to traffic from 5th Avenue to 9th Avenue. A detour around the construction zone will be required for the duration of the project. The contractor will erect traffic control signs for the detour and position barricades on these days and then close the road.

Tangible work on site is expected to begin the next day. Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible. North bound traffic will be detoured west along 5th Avenue, north along Moates Avenue, and south along 9th Avenue. Drivers are asked to use the Missile Gate if their destination is north of 5th Avenue. Drivers whose destination is the base clinic are asked to use Skaggs Drive if entering through the Main Gate or enter through Missile Gate. Airmen in Training needing to cross Avenue E should use the crosswalk at 9th Avenue or 5th Avenue to avoid the construction area.

Drivers are asked to please respect barricades and exercise caution while driving around the construction area. We will complete this project as quickly and as safely as possible, and we ask for your patience and cooperation during the period of construction. Weather permitting, the roadways are expected to be open by August 2014.
