The Air Force Reserve has been a part of the U.S. Air Force mission of flying, fighting, and winning since 1948 when its formation was ordered by President Harry S. Truman. Now, the service is using that same mission readiness to help one of their most treasured resources; the Airmen themselves.

While the objective of the Air Force taking care of its own has always been a priority, many Airmen remain unaware about the opportunities their surrounding reserve office offers, and how it plays a role in the goal of airpower dominance.

"I think it's important," said Tech. Sgt. Cole Chamberlain, an Air Force Reserve recruiter for the 82nd Training Wing and 80th Fighter Wing at Sheppard and the 97th Training Wing at Altus Air Force Base, Okla.

Chamberlain transitioned from active duty after four years of service and missed the fellowship and morale the Air Force fostered within his life.

"The reserves helped me out tremendously," he said. "Everybody takes care of each other."

With Airmen who may find difficulty going from active duty to the reserve status, Chamberlain aims to create an atmosphere of guidance and understanding. As a former active duty Airmen himself, he oftentimes shares his experience and tips with his fellow Airman.

"I went through the same thing," he said. "I'm living proof that it's possible."

With Airmen constantly looking for options in the Air Force, Chamberlain notes the important role his job plays in informing others.

"It's about the people," he said. "Take care of the people and the job will take care of itself."
