Country Liaison is commander's wingman of choice

Airman 1st Class Justin Collins, 82nd Training Wing country liaison, has been selected as the commander's wingman of choice. Having spent eight months at Sheppard, the Alton, Mo. native is inspired by his wife and dogs. He enjoys working on cars, being outdoors and volunteering.

The 82nd Training Wing "Commander's Wingman of Choice" award program is the commander's way of acknowledging Airmen for a job well done and to recognize Airmen who exemplify the Air Force core values. Criteria for consideration include outstanding duty performance, community involvement and exemplary leadership.


Family: Wife Airman 1st Class Dustta Collins, two dogs (Playboy and campy)

Education: Currently enrolled in career development course training.


Future goals: To obtain a degree in criminal justice and in biology, one day cross train into Air Force Office of Special Investigations, finish remodeling his 1986 Ferro GT and start a family.

Greatest accomplishment: He believes his greatest accomplishment so far is joining the Air Force and making a great life that he's proud of for his wife and himself.

Why is this person the Wingman of Choice?

Airman 1st Class Collins is an airman that is a step above other airman. In the 8 months assigned here, Collins is literally the "first face" many of these students experience of the United States Air Force. Collins completed all duties ahead of schedule and with superior expertise. He has processed over 300 foreign travel vouchers, ensuring students were paid on time totaling over $469,000. Collins is a selfless volunteer; contributing over eighty hours of service in the greater Wichita Falls community and raised over 1300 units of blood for Red Cross, saving up to 3600 lives.

Collins is making a positive difference in Air Education and Training Command by his dedication and commitment to serving our international students. He demonstrates this through his willingness to go above and beyond to accomplish his duties and to assist students whenever the need arises. During the civilian furloughs, Collins stepped up to ensure all work was accomplished even while his civilian counterparts were unavailable. Due to his outstanding work ethics he was rewarded with a coin presented by the director of training operations. Collins is a highly aggressive and self-motivated Airman and exemplifies the true meaning of pride and professionalism by bridging international relationships on a daily basis.
