Second Airman sentenced for drug use Published Oct. 23, 2013 82nd Training Wing Public Affairs SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- A student Airman from the 362nd Training Squadron was sentenced to four months' confinement, forfeitures of $1,010 per month for four months and a bad conduct discharge for drug violations during a special court martial Oct. 22. Airman Basic Jonathan A. Collins pleaded guilty to wrongful use of cocaine and marijuana and attempted wrongful use of ecstasy. Evidence presented showed that Collins purchased and used cocaine at a hotel and during a party in Dallas during the July 4 weekend along with another Airman, Airman Basic Branson Russell, who pleaded guilty to similar conduct during an Oct. 9 court martial. The following day, the two purchased four pills of what they believed to be ecstasy. After being charged with these crimes, Collins left the base without permission and traveled to Houston, where he used marijuana numerous times, including once in his car just before re-entering the Sheppard gate. After sentencing, Collins was handcuffed and led away to begin serving his confinement.
