Policy manager is commander's "Wingman of Choice"

Michael White, a 82nd Training Group policy manager from Athens, Ala., is Brig. Gen. Michael Fantini's "Wingman of Choice" for the Sept. 2 week. Having spent 21 years at Sheppard, he is motivated by his family and the mission to train and inspire Airmen.

The 82nd Training Wing "Commander's Wingman of Choice" award program is the commander's way of acknowledging Airmen for a job well done and to recognize Airmen who exemplify the Air Force core values. Criteria for consideration include outstanding duty performance, community involvement and exemplary leadership.

Family: Wife, Nelva, two adult sons and two adult daughters with 16 grandchildren.

Education: Has a master's degree in education and training from University of North Texas and bachelor's degree in occupational education from Wayland Baptist University.

Future goals: Continue to improve the training environment.

Greatest accomplishment: Having the privilege and opportunity to serve our great nation both as a military member and a federal civil servant.

Hobbies, off-duty interests: Camping, hunting, fishing, football, basketball and gardening.

Reason for submission: Mike's policy knowledge is unparalleled in the 82nd Training Group and the wing! He is pivotal in the coordination of training plans, correcting crucial mistakes which ensure validity and compliance with Air Education and Training Command guidance.

Commander's comments: According to Col. Clayton A. Seale, White's policy expertise is continually sought out throughout the group, wing, and 2nd Air Force. His attention to detail and constant research in the instructions makes him an invaluable asset to our group. His wingmanship has contributed immeasurably to our success in technical training policy, quality of classroom instruction and instructor qualification.
