Cook is commander's 'Wingman of Choice' Published Aug. 21, 2013 82nd Training Wing Public Affairs SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Mary Cook, 82nd Force Support Squadron food service worker, is Brig. Gen. Michael Fantini's "Wingman of Choice" for the week of Aug. 19. "Miss Mary" as she goes by, has worked at Sheppard for nine years and calls Edna, Texas, home. Family: One sister Education (Include name of school and degree in what area): Gregory Portland High School What inspires you: Mary's inspiration is derived from working as a team and sharing in the camaraderie with her co-workers in delivering quality customer service and caring about the product she provides. Her real achievements are evident in how she is consistently overcoming challenges no matter the size. Future goals: Continue serving the Sheppard Air Force Base community and making contributions where she can within the 82nd FSS. Mary is an excellent food service worker who likes to expand her ability to assist more in catering and planning functions to support the installation. Greatest accomplishment: Mary's greatest accomplishment was her support during the ENJJPT dinner and Italian dinner. She was instrumental in setting up the décor and service. Hobbies, off-duty interests: Avid reader, Mary averages three novels per month. Why is this person the Wingman of Choice? Mary is a consistent pillar in the Airman's Club operation. She has been instrumental as a source of consistency through the many challenges encountered at the club. Her excellent customer service and interaction with customers has proven vital in establishing relationships with the customer base. Mary applies a sincere interest in promoting and supporting club events that leave the "right" impression with guest regardless of their status. Commander's name and comments: Lt. Col. Rosalyn Walker Mary has a heart of gold. She works very hard to provide customers with what they ask for. I have seen first-hand how she encourages co-workers when things get busy and need a boost to keep them going to meet the demands of the moment. She is also quick to show her appreciation to others who provide a hand. She is dedicated to her job as evident in her desire to walk to the base several hours early to ensure that she is not late for work.
