The race, the largest single-day 100-mile race in the country, hosts riders from both the United States and abroad, with the Sheppard pit stop giving riders a glimpse of Air Force life. Riders on the Sheppard portion of the race will enjoy stops at the GITA ramp, nicknamed "Air Power Alley", to view aircraft displays and interact with air crew volunteers, as well as a pit stop area located at the Community Activity Center (CAC), where refreshments and medical support will be provided. Departing the base, riders will pass through "Airmen's Alley", a section of the route lined exclusively by Airmen-in-Training here who will be cheering riders on. About 100 volunteers are needed to provide assistance to riders at the CAC, while 50 volunteers are needed to man the race route throughout the base. If interested in volunteering at the CAC, please contact Ms. Cynthia Cummings at 940-676-3861. Volunteers interested in manning the route should contact Master Sgt. Philip Parker of the 82nd Security Forces Squadron at 940-676-6249.
